Quiescence: dormant-hushed-inert-at rest
Quiescence is a body of work produced in response to dormant spaces. These spaces are in-between uses. They are not derelict and have a future use outlined for them. Many have now undergone major transformation and the sense of any previous use has been erased or greatly modified.
The perception of waiting and tension is palpable, a condition of stillness pervades.
Appropriation of the spaces by birds and plants is evident amongst the remnants of previous occupations.
The work was originally exhibited as part of Liverpool Independents Biennial in 2008.
