Stephen McCoy photographed Southport Fun-Fair during the winter months of 1980 and 1981 when the Fair was closed and many attractions were covered over and boarded up. This work was described as having a sense of melancholic irony, but humour was also present in many of the photographs. This was Stephen's first exhibition at the Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool and all the photographs were made using a 5x4 view camera. A selection was published by Cafe Royal Books and editions are still available from this Photo-deck web site.
